Day 190

It was a dark and stormy…. MIDDAY!  I drove into my next location, Assateague Island National Seashore, around 2:15.  The sky was, by then, so dark and winds were so strong I thought I might get blown away.  I left my trailer and car hitched together figuring that the car would help hold down the trailer and we should be safe enough.  We did rock and roll all night, but we did pass night safely.  What was I worried about???

I have been staying at several national campgrounds on my way north though GA and SC and beyond.  Surprisingly, there have been sites open and waiting, unlike in Florida.  I have found that the national parks are the cheapest and best equipped for me.  That said, the Assateague was special.  We shared our beach-front spot with wild horses.

There’s a picture of the picnic table found at every site.  Do you notice something weird?  Not only were we told to stay at least 40 feet away from the horses, we were told to put our food away in an enclosed container.  If you didn’t have one, the picnic table would suffice.  That door on the side opening to a fenced in space for your cooler and such.  Neat huh?

By the way, take a close look at the picture of a large travel trailer below.  You’ll have a surprise if you zoom in.
