Day 57

Do you know the word “busker”? I didn’t.  But then one day, on my way to somewhere else in YouTube, the video “Angels in Heaven - Chris Rodrigues & the Spoon Lady” popped up in my feed and I was drawn to listen.  I encourage you to watch the video and have a treat too.  The two street musicians that perform this song are now among my favorites of all time.

Chris is a virtuoso one-man-band and singer. But this is not my point today.

Abby, the ballerina of the spoons, just must be one of the most unassuming but talented persons I’ve come across ever.  To give you and idea of how so, watch her video “So what if I don’t have teeth.”  It’s she who taught me the word, busker, and the street musician scene in Asheville. Hence my desire to go to Asheville grew as I’ve been traveling.

Unfortunately, the reality didn’t meet the expectations.  I think it’s too cold for street musicians these days.  I’ve driven into Ashville proper twice now to seek out some buskers to no avail. And yet, it’s been a good week.  I visited with an old friend, drove part of the Blue Ridge Parkway, and just chilled in a National Forest campground.  I am content.
